I woke up to a loud bang, my heart started beating faster and I examined my room to see no one there. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I slowly got out of bed, and turned on the light. Goose bumps rose up on my arms, as I noticed the window open, and the curtains blowing from the wind outside. I walked over to it, closing it quietly. I turned around, nobody there. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in. Looking around my room once again, I notice the table on the other side of my room was knocked over, and I froze as the light in the hall turned on. I heard footsteps coming up the hallway and I look around for a weapon to use against the intruder. I unplug my lamp and hold it in front of me, ready to throw it, as the door opens I see who it is and I scream, throwing the lamp.
I sit up in my bed, covered in sweat, knowing it was all a dream. I lay back down and sigh. I've had the same dream every night for 2 years.
