It was December 30th. The time was 11:45pm. Only 15 more minutes I thought. I giggle at what plan I'm about to enact. I grab my cell from my pocket and punch in the number for the pizza place a few kilometers away. They pick up on the first ring. "It's nearly New Years, what'd you want?" The voice suits that of a young man, maybe somewhere in his twenties.
"Yes, sorry, hi. I'd like to place an order." The man just grunts. "I, uh, would like a meat lovers. Thanks." Silence. "Hello?"
"I'm waiting for you to tell me the address." He sounds like he's getting impatient.
"Right, sorry. It's 45 Lycarus Road, Bourke." I listen and hear pen scribbling on paper.
"I should be there in 20 minutes." The man hung up.
I placed the phone back in its holder and went to sit on the deck.
