"A gift?" I stuttered, my tan skin slowly easing into an array of inky black streaks. It spread to my elbows. "This isn't a gift." It climbed to my shoulders. "This is anything but a gift." It strangled my neck. "This is a sickness." Charlotte's mom died when she was 10. She met her best friend when she was 13. She had her first symptoms at age 25 on new year's day, and she caught the ink shortly after. This wasn't supposed to happen. She was supposed to go to art school, move in with Jeremy and live happily ever after. So much for her happy ending.
