in the year 21XX, the two maverick hunters X and Zero had worked hard to maintain the peace in Abel city, maverick crime had been rapidly decreasing to an all time low, X and Zero were glad and they enjoyed the peace, but they both felt like they were going to needed again soon, and then one day, when least expected it, X and zero were flung into an alternate universe, one where beings called the crystal gems lived on earth, and they were at war with their own homeworld, raising a young boy named Steven as they did so, realizing they would need to stick around in order to find their way home, X and Zero with vouching from Steven lended their assistance to the crystal gem in their battle for earth, as well as the maverick hunters' chance to return to their own world,
