I know they are out there. I can see their shadows, the clashes of their bodies against the ship still haunt the empty place. It is empty. Too much, there should be other people here. And now they are gone. Dead. And I am left alone, to drift away to madness in the isolation of space. Drifting alone, to the red planet. Everything was fine, they were so excited. The first people to set foot on Mars. And now they were the first people to die in the longest human mission. But I know it was no accident. They did it. They killed them. The only chance I have of surviving is to continue the mission, work double and wait months for my ride back home comes. But I don't think I will make it. They are still here. They are here, my only companion the constant fear of them appearing. And regardless of the solitude of space, I'd rather be alone, than being with it.

My crew and I take the jobs we need to survive in a world overrun by aliens. We fly a stolen ship that once trafficked women-us included. Now, we make our own rules and do whatever it takes to stay free. My latest job? Rehabilitate a Zohra-a towering alien locked away in prison, meant to be tamed into usefulness for his captors. Then I meet him-my job, a mute Zohra. And that's when everything goes sideways. Rescuing him wasn't in the plan, yet now we're on the run, supposedly relying on each other... except I'm the one doing all the work. He's frustrating. Completely useless. A liability, really. And yet, for some ridiculous reason, I just can't leave him behind.
