Alice and Jasper lived in a rundown neighborhood where the house were falling apart of abandoned completely. They live with their mother; their father lived with them but he was always away on business. Pretty soon he was gone all the time that he just stopped coming home altogether. Their mom is an ex-alcoholic and she can barely support herself and the kids. Jasper is the oldest, Alice is only a year younger; they had a younger brother named Caleb but he died at child birth three years after Alice and Jasper was only 11 at the time. Before dad stopped coming home, he built them a little clubhouse in the woods right next to the house. Since the kids no longer see him, they use that as their little sanctuary. They thought their world was perfect, until one man came to bury their happiness.
