It's said that you can't outrun fate, but Layla Rivers is determined to try.

It's a hot July night on the eve of the summer solstice, and a blood red moon hangs low over Lake Superior. A murder, a stranger, and a curse set off a spiral of events that leaves Layla's life in shambles and the lives of her loved ones under threat. Her only solution is to accept her fate--to abandon the man she loves in exchange for a man she despises. But Layla always felt that bad rules were meant to be broken.

With werewolf/human tensions reaching a fever pitch, being on the run among humans is a dangerous gamble--but it isn't just non-shifters that Layla has to worry about. Dark forces threaten her freedom once again, and Layla quickly learns that fate has a way of catching up with you.

I appreciate the quiet tension he leaves between us. There are no words, only small noises and the feeling of skin against skin. When we make it to the bed, he tells me to lie down and place my arms above my head. My wounded arm is still a little stiff, but it doesn't hurt when he kneels on the mattress beside me and begins to loop my wrists through a belt, which he then fastens to the bars of his headboard. Already my pulse is racing, and I try to measure the expression on his face when I tentatively test my binds. I'm not going anywhere.

"Relax," he growls, pushing my knees apart. "I've got you."

To fall in love with someone like him? Cover designed by Ren T
