Love and Basketball: Junior Year
This is the third installment of the Love and Basketball series. Please read Freshmen and Sophomore Year first. ___________________________________________ To get a rainbow, you must go through rainstorm, and they've seen a multitude of precipitation through all these years. Completely free from college and doing his own thing, Shai Carter was heading down a smooth road of comfortably-at least, that's what he assumed. With his very own AAU team and the manager of the YMCA, Shai has taken full control of his life, centering his happiness, the community, and of course, his beautiful wife. And with things seemingly dear and content, he didn't expect for his past to make a wrap around and how him off course. Although it took many cloudy days to get under his skin, rainstorms were unavoidable in his life. From birth, her life had been nothing other than rainbows and sunshines. She had her occasional storms and darkened night, but it had completely stopped. But there were still some clouds lingering around through her day. Entering her junior year of college, Dess, had finally found the appropriate time to get her life on track. Partially healed from the passing of her father, her journey to new beginnings had begun, and her sunny days seemed to be constant. Until it wasn't.

Stephen looked back at me with eyes full of hatred. I fought the urge to slap him and instead looked back at Mr. Arruzo. "I can't work with her, sir," Stephen spoke. "Well you will be for the next weeks. Deal with it." - Morgan Robinson has a passion for basketball. She goes to Lake Windsor High School, the number one school in the district for basketball. She focuses more on basketball and her education than boys. Stephen Curry, a popular kid and womanizer, sees Morgan as a "slut" although he knows nothing about her. It seems like she can't escape him that much since he's her neighbor, and things don't go so well in calculus class. Eight long crucial weeks of adventuring. Lucas Wesley was his hometown basketball star and he grew up well. According to his home town news paper, The Compton Tribune he was "going places." Except for Lucas never did. He got accepted and attends Ohio State. He spends his time now, wasting his basketball talent on girls, drugs and alcohol. The ghost of his past haunts him and he has never been the same after the mistakes he's made. Kate-Anna was a simple girl and she worked very hard to complete her community college early. She wanted to make a life for herself, one that she never had growing up. She has a rough past but it doesn't define her determination or her life. Despite pressing forward, she's always been missing a piece. As fate takes a desperate turn, it could change their lives forever. *Note: there is a lot of rough language, some alcohol/drug use.
