Six Gym Challengers navigate a post-Cipher Orre... or at least they think it's post-Cipher.

These aspiring Trainers are from wildly different backgrounds. One was about to complete her Pokémon Ranger training in Fiore when she saw her first battle on TV: Orre's Champion Jamie winning the World Championships. Two are descendants of Battle Legend Blue. Another carries the legacy of the Pokémon HQ Lab as the granddaughter of Professor Jovi Mesquite.

They don't just have each other to beat. There are 30 Gym Challengers in total and they're not the only descendants of famous Trainers. The most challenging obstacles, however, will be themselves.

It was around 150 years ago, when a war broke out among the 8 Eeveelution kingdoms. It was started by the Jolteon kingdom, as a war between themselves and the Vaporeon kingdom. The other kingdoms, excluding the Umbreon kingdom, joined sides with the Vaporeons, and nearly wiped out the Jolteon species completely. The Espeons mined out most, if not all of the thunder stones nearby, and hid them away. That was 150 years ago now. Jolteons are an incredibly rare sight these days. The other Eevees and Eeveelutions have been taught over the years that Jolteons are evil and soulless, and that evolving into one will change your mind for the worse, as well as being a sin against Arceus. Now, about 6 years ago, a couple exploring an old mine discovered one of the very few remaining thunder stones. They brought it home with them, but not without being spotted. Just a week later, they were forced to run away to protect their son from being discovered. They left both him, and the thunder stone behind. Now, 6 years later, there's a certain shiny Jolteon who's about to go on a journey. What may happen along the way? (This is the rewrite of Inside and Out. Some parts may be reused from the original.) Q - Is this story based on Pokemon Red or FireRed? A - The story has a few iconic moments from the games/manga but those events do not play a big part in the main story arc. Q - Is Ash Ketchum in it? A - The story takes place in its own universe. I try to bring some events from the games, the manga, and the anime. You get to see a different version of Ash Ketchum (close to how he has been depicted in the anime) in 2 chapters of this book. Q - Is Team Rocket the same as in the anime? A - While Cassidy and Butch are characters from the anime, they have a different overall character arc than in the anime. Team Rocket is darker than in any previous versions and has a purpose and a plan other than stealing. Giovanni's plan plays out slowly in the course of three books. Q - It has time travel? A - It does, time travel is hinted at in the first book with the actual "time traveling" in the second book. Q - "I hope the protagonist has a father, hahaha" A - Yes, he does. The character mostly appears in flashbacks but is an important character.
