The family tried to include her, because Alice knew that Anna had a mate, but Anna just wasn't one to encourage such fantasies as Bella was. It was Bella that told her about vampires, and that was when Anna's world changed forever. Hidden in the shadows was a blonde vampire. He wasn't like the Cullens, meaning he wasn't a "vegetarian."
