Whilst most kids would be playing ball, begging for ice-cream or prancing around in the sun, she would observe curiously, reserved and knowing. Even as a child, she pitied the folly and antics of those around her.

She laughed at the delusion of others.

She scowled at idiocy.

She was insipid to those who chose to remain ignorant.

After all...she knew and they didn't.

Growing up, Amira knew life would never be a walk in the park.  Life experiences had shoved that notion down her throat, oh-so-nicely. 

As a teenager living on the central coast, she never really belonged. Not that she wanted to. The people she was surrounded with comprised of airheads who only knew the meaning of parties, sex and alcohol.
