Kokichi was the first one to wake up. He didn't realize it at first, but the killing game wasn't real. he didn't die..
One by one, people started to wake up. They were all okay..nobody died.

Unfortunately, they all woke up at DanganRonpa HQ, unable to leave.. 

Kokichi never actually took his hypothetical mask off. He still acted like he did while they were in the killing game, because without it..he felt weak.
