Annabeth is part of the Chases, the family that runs one of the departments of the Magistrates. Annabeth's father, Frederick, runs this department. It takes care of all petty crimes. She watches him get caught but Percy gets off with a warning. Annabeth walks by and when the merchant isn't looking she steals some bread and cheese.
