Paris, 1940. As the Germans invade her beloved city of Paris, aspiring jazz singer Vivienne Dumont leaves everything behind for her family's summer villa in the charming seaside town of Bordeaux. Instead of finding refuge, Vivienne is forced to assume a new identity when Nazi troops encroach upon every corner of her home country.

Hiding her Jewish heritage, Vivienne is swept into the upper echelons of Nazi high society, thwarting the romantic advances of a malevolent German officer as she attempts to survive. When given the opportunity, Vivienne risks everything to hide other refugees in plain sight under the guise of operating a quaint hotel from her summer home.
