Shock is plastered all over his face. "You are impossible!" He whisper-shouts. "Any semblance of an argument is blown way out of proportion." I place both hands on the counter and look into the sink. "All I've ever wanted was for us to get along," he scolds. "And it seems like every time we make any kind of progress, you push me away." I scoff and look over at him. I'm surprised to see tears in his eyes. He steps back toward the bedroom. "Maybe we shouldn't talk for a while. Clearly, we need to figure our shit out."
