For six years, the Kingdom of Rayard and the Kingdom of Hathage have been in a feud that threatens the start of a war.

Edith Alcoft is the daughter of a prodigy who decodes and encodes messages for the High Commander Ekker and Lord Sykes of Hathage Kingdom. Eight years later, after his death, she lives with her uncle and learns to fend for herself while looking after her uncle and his clinic, and staying under low profile from the Militia. Having been taught by her father the knowledge of cryptography, she is skilled at decoding and encoding messages herself, but to her, the skill was pretty much useless in her daily life.

At the turn of events, she was reunited with her childhood best friend, Avery, who is now a high-ranking officer of the Militia. What she did not see coming was the importance of a secret her father had entrusted to her before his death, in a form of a series of complex codes, which could turn the tide of the war. Only problem, she wasn't familiar with those complex codes and she could not bring herself to decode the message due to a trauma. Would she be able to decode the message before it is too late?

Avery has his own demons to overcome. He is hell-bent on revenge for the injustice done to him eleven years ago, on the night his father, Lord Sykes was murdered. If it hadn't been for Sir Alcoft and his daughter, he would have been dead eleven years ago. Upon meeting his childhood best friend again, he was elated and the feelings he harbored for her reignited. However, when he is later placed on an assignment to crack a certain code that is in Edith's hands, he is torn between his need for revenge and his deepening feelings for Edith. Will he betray her or protect her?

***WINNER of the "BREATHTAKING: A FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL WRITING COMPETITION!" "You are a secret kept from the world, but not from me." So begins the peculiar message found slipped under a bedroom door on the morning of May first. Theo is the heir to a powerful dictatorship. The number of people allowed to know he exists is few. He has spent his entire life walled up in the Tower, the looming stone monolith from which his father rules over the Land. Merryn is the daughter of political prisoners. She's known who Theo is longer than he would think possible, and she is taking a great risk contacting him via handwritten notes in order to convince him he deserves more than the fate his father has designed for him. She has one month to exchange daily messages with him, to answer his questions and open his eyes to the realities of a world he has never been allowed to see. A revolution is coming to the Land at the end of the month, and if Merryn's notes fail to get their point across, Theo may never live to see the sunrise on June first. A/N: The following letters were originally published each day from May 1st-31st, 2014. As you will see,Theo is allowed to write down a question for Merryn each evening, but you, the reader, won't see these within the body of the story. It may or may not be obvious from Merryn's response what Theo is asking. Part of the fun is guessing what his questions might be, but if you really want to know what they are, a list of those questions is at the end of the story. This story is a re-imagining of Rapunzel. Now, without further ado-I believe a young heir is about to unfold a slip of paper found on the tile floor near his door... Let's see what it says!

Galadriel has seen more war in five years than most would experience in a lifetime. She and her brother, Finrod, commanded the Great War's most elite death squad: the Loriens. Together they completed untold thousands of missions, destroying some of the Enemy's most valuable strongholds and weapons. In the last crucial battle of the War, Finrod was killed by Sauron, an Enemy lieutenant of reputed cruelty on and off the battlefield. Morgoth was killed in the same battle, and the Loriens were sent home. Galadriel and her commandos were expected to re-assimilate with the civilian population. Galadriel has struggled to adapt for months; but with her brother gone and so many of the Enemy soldiers, including Sauron, at large, how can she put down the weapons that have kept her safe for so long? Halbrand finally makes his way north to take refuge in the great city of Lindon, where a chance encounter with a half-elf lord puts him directly into the path of Galadriel. He's done fighting. It's time to atone for his misdeeds. If his identity is exposed, can he make the person who matters most to him understand? The two journey to the Southlands, where an orc father is pursuing a secret of his own. What is Adar hunting? That's a lot of very dramatic questions for a single description. All that cinematic fluff aside, I hope you'll take a look at my original fiction piece, as it has cost me many brain cells and many hours of sleep. #2 in haladriel #11 in ringsofpower trying to get in the top 100 of the lordoftherings tag but I keep topping out really close to 100...one day...
A Million Whispers❤️ by BeckyMerari1909
13 parts Ongoing
A Million Whispers The wind carried secrets through the valleys of Velmora, each whisper threading itself into the fabric of a kingdom on the edge of ruin. It was said that if one stood still enough in the palace gardens, they could hear the voices of the past-echoes of lost loves, broken oaths, and the quiet desperation of those bound by duty. Princess Evelyne had listened to those whispers all her life, and now, as she stood on the marble balcony overlooking the gilded city, she wondered if her own voice would soon be among them. Her father, King Aldric, was a ruler of iron will and heavy expectations. The crown prince of the enemy kingdom, Kieran Valcour, had arrived at court, his presence a reminder of the treaty forged in desperation-an alliance that would be sealed with Evelyne's hand in marriage. She had always known she would be a pawn in the game of politics, but she never expected her heart to rebel against her fate. Beyond the palace walls, in the dense forests where the kingdom's heartbeat pulsed strongest, another whisper stirred. A boy with storm-gray eyes and a past he refused to remember was coming for her. His name was Rylen, and though Evelyne did not yet know him, their destinies were tangled in ways neither could foresee. War brewed on the horizon. Love, duty, and fate would collide. And in a world where a single whisper could start a war or heal a heart, Evelyne would have to decide which voices to follow-those of the past, or the call of her own soul.

"Do you remember calling me 'mate?'" he asked softly, pushing her wild curls away from her face. She blushed deeply, but he wouldn't let her look away. "You heard that?" He nodded with a smile. "It was the first thought she ever shared with me." Skylar pursed her lips. "She likes you very much." "What about you?" he teased gently. "How do you feel about me?" She set her jaw and once again managed to look down her nose at him while staring up at him. "Well... well, I'm rather fond of you, Orion." He let out a relieved laugh and pulled her into his chest again. "What a relief. I was worried it was just me." He nuzzled her temple, inhaling deeply, his dragon fully at peace. The words "I love you" were right on the tip of his tongue, but he knew it was too soon for that. He would have to hold them in just a little while longer. "I'm fond of you, too," he whispered in her ear. <><><><><><><><> Skylar lived her life in fear. Fear of exposure, fear of herself, and fear of her future. Guns, revenge and buildings to bomb, what could go wrong? ✮ He came in, gun held out in front of him in one hand while the other was resting on his hip where a sharp dagger gleamed in the light. "Come on out little girl, why not make this easier for both of us. The agency you ran away from just want to have a little talk, that's all." She scoffed internally. Yeah right. Then the footsteps ceased. She peeked to the right, then to the left. Neither direction showed any sign of the intruder. She looked up in front of her and gasped, the glint of steel and smell of death as overwhelming as it was adrenaline inducing, exciting. "Boo." ✮ Murder, accidents, assassinations. Call it what you will, it's all the same, all has the same life breaking, mind shattering consequences - be it for the victim or the bystander. It had shaped Alex in a way no one should be. Broken down and rebuilt into the perfect soldier, one who had the power to change the world, to fight battles that would either make or break the carefully constructed vision we all live in. The only small, minute, really unimportant detail - it's pretty hard to get into a government classified site when you're 15 years old and have a rag-tag team of double-crossing back-stabbers behind you. Not to mention the threat of a world war and ghost hanging above your head. Armed with sarcasm, wit, and a hell of a lot of aggressive intentions, it won't be too long till a sticky situation is all that's ahead of you. Sometimes, running head-first into a situation isn't the best idea. Instead, you gotta play a game. A deadly game where either you have all the pieces on the board, or you have nothing. [previously known as Espionage: double-cross] Thanks for reading :)
