Set in the late 90's/early 2000's written from various points of views.
Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Andy Nicholson are in their last year at Stocksbridge High school in High Green Sheffield. Deciding to form a makeshift band called Arctic Monkeys full of self taught musicians so they can cover songs for their friends, they find that together they make a pretty good band and with Alex's songwriting, Matt's charm, Jamie's humour and Andy's bass they wonder if they can become more than just a group of friends with guitars?
Taxi ranks, totalitarian bouncers, disappointing evening entertainment, robots from 1984, cigarette smokers and riot vans feature heavily.
It's been six years since Alex Turner's band became successful. Six years since he moved to London and six years since he left his best friend, Issy, behind to pursue his dream. For the past six years, she has done everything in her power to ignore him and his band. That is, of course, until he is standing right in front of her, apologising.
