Heavy Hearts

Otto Black is an odd boy who stands out from the crowd. With record breaking academic scores and perfect attendance, teachers love him while the students avoid him. Otto doesn't mind this, in fact he loves it. He also has the magnificent power to read minds, but since this story takes place in a present day fantasy world it's not as impressive as it may seem. Lately Otto has been dating this girl, Zanna Ryan, whom loves him dearly. He comes to like her through the three months of their relationship and starts to care for her deeply, vowing to protect her at all costs. But little to Otto's knowledge his old flame, Harry Rosales (who has been out at sea for months,) is back in town and for good. Otto is faced with a tough decision, finding it hard to break his vows with Zanna and even harder to keep his hands off Harry.

While he struggles with his relationships the town of Elmore grieves the loss of multiple student lives to the hands of suicide. Normal and stable students are experiencing suicidal thoughts left and right and their family and friends are left feeling confused and empty. The rate of each suicide increases by the day leaving the halls of Elmore Creek High barren and depressing. Parents and authorities alike scramble for any solution but have yet to find one leaving the citizens with heavy hearts.
