Madeline "Maddie" Adams hails from a lineage of French descent, and her boyfriend, Bryant Halifax, hails from America. Maddie has always been fascinated with computers, but Bryant is the genius-good enough to become a hacker. He works openly as a black hat, but is secretly a white hat for the government. Coincidentally, they both first met online, when Maddie challenged him to hack into her account and post a certain message. When he does, she's impressed and becomes infatuated with him. A year later, they're dating, and living out in Gem City.

One day, Bryant receives an important message via email that invites him to join a team of elite, god-tier hackers like himself to prevent cybercrime undercover. When he eagerly accepts, it takes a week on the DarkWeb for Bryant to learn something much more sinister than disrupting oil and electricity lines across America and stealing identities and info is afoot. Something more than regular scamming and phishing. Something along the lines of a cyber war.
