Stiles always knew that Noah wasn't his biological father after all his mother had always been honest on that front, and Stiles would like to think of himself as a pretty smart kid. So during his childhood he spend days in the Underground with Jareth and the goblins and when he wasn't there he was with his Pops down at the station or with his Mom until she got sick. Now looking back on it all that time with the overdramatic Goblin King was probably why everyone viewed him as so quirky.

Now well into young adulthood Stiles had even more reason to be quirky; he had joined a pack of supernatural creatures. But he still has secrets from them and when his uncle comes to visit they might just all come out.
