Long ago Esther gave birth to her first son, Gabriel 'Mischief' Mikaelson. Esther and Mikael raised him with love, but at the age of 16 he was turned into a vampire by his aunt, Dahlia. He erased his family's memory of him, but watched after them from afar.
After everything that happened between his beloved siblings, he run away, pain in his heart. Many, many years later he came a cross a town named Beacon Hills. He decided to stay there and a few years later he met Claudia and Noah Stilinski, the town's sheriff. They were eager to get a child but Claudia wasn't able to. Gabriel then found a witch who was willing to transfer him into a child again. He then went to their house and waited.
Oh, did he forgot to tell you? Gabriel is also a Tribrid (a vampire-werewolf-witch).

Dean and Sam had believed that she was human, until Castiel had broke the news to them, scaring them more about the outcome of the child inside of Abigail.
