She's lived in the darkness her entire life. The guards protect her. The empty concrete hallways are her kingdom and salvation. There is a world beyond, sure, but it is not hers and will never be. Until the Avengers find the Hydra base and make a shocking discovery.
I sat down, put Buble's Feelin Good on repeat, and whipped out nineteen hundred words in forty-five minutes. Had nothing but the barest of concepts going in, but here it is. Don't know if I'll update. Very unedited, really just thrown up because I thought if I put it up I'd be more likely to revisit it later.

When new intel comes through about a Hydra weapon, the avengers split into two teams, one checking out a new base, while the other scours an old one. It's no coincidence that the intel comes through, and they find files about experiments done to one person. 'winter 2.0' the team calls her, but to Bucky, the fear sinks in as memories resurface about one soldier in particular, Ace. Stronger, deadlier and she made the winter soldier in him afraid. The work together to find out all they can, not realising that they are being watched by the very soldier herself. After an attack on the compound, which leaves quite a few of the team shaken, one avengr in particular is intrigued by the univited guest now residing in the holding cells. Who is the masked assailant, and why is it, she listened to him? **** The soldier begins to remember her past, fighting against all the Hydra conditioning, to remember who she was. Why does one of the men stand out? Who is he, and why does she have an overwhelming need to protect him? She knows Hydra will stop at nothing to get their soldiers back, but will she submit to Hydra or fight for right to live free?
