Virgil never told any of the sides, not counting Remus, about his past. Fearing how they would react to living with an Afton, the most messed up family to ever be known. So, he did the only thing he could think of, and that's keeping it a secret. Of course, we all know that secrets have to be known eventually.
As Virgil tries to handle working on a new Pizzeria with Michael and Henry, he must also try to keep his most hidden secrets, well secrets. Only, nothing seems to go the way the Afton child wants them to go.
