My Friday night was spent in bed with my laptop, like always. I’d never really been one for parties, not that I ever got invited to any... But you know, I didn’t think I’d like it very much... I wouldn’t say I was unsocial, I liked talking to people, but I just wasn’t too fond of opening up to someone I didn’t know. And that seemed like what parties were all about. Then again, I wouldn’t know. Anyway, back to what I actually spent my Friday nights doing.
I was basically in love with social media. Especially Twitter and Instagram. Some would call it an unhealthy obsession, but I really think it made my life so much more exciting. I’d even go as far as to say it changed my life for the better. I met some of my best friends on the Internet, although I lived on the other side of the world of practically everyone. We talked on Skype from time to time, which was always the highlight of my day. That was what I was doing that particular night, when I got the idea to do something that would change my life forever.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
