After spending several months with the man who she had thought would be her knight in shining armor and moving out to Utah to start their life together, Kaylee had reluctantly come to find out that everything that they had was nothing more than a lie. Not that the feeling is new to her of course, so she wasn't quite sure why she was so certain that this was her last rodeo.

So it didn't come as a surprise to her in the least to find herself walking into the closest dive bar that she could find, her smashed hopes and dreams of a beautiful future floating her through the door as she nestled herself in a corner seat and ordered her usual from the knowing bartender who placed the glass in front of her with a sympathetic smile.

Her intentions for the night were pure and set in stone. Drink away every memory of them together until he was nothing more than a figment to her imagination, something that he had proved her to be after finding him bedded with the next door neighbor. But what she wasn't expecting was to fall for a pair of bright blue eyes that seemed to be hiding a secret of their own as they glared at her from across the bar. Tonight was about forgetting and maybe just maybe he could be the one to help her forget. But would she be able to do it with no strings attached?

"That is not clothing, it's not even underwear," he says, his voice strained. "No, but it is very provocative don't you think?" she says - her voice sultry. She watches as Austin's jaw clenches in his annoyance as he keeps his eyes trained on the wall across the room and away from her. "I will stay. Get dressed," he mumbles eventually - he looks like he is in pain. "Oh, ok, but only if you insist," Angel says turning toward her dressing room. "I am going home to repack my bags, I will be back later this evening," Austin says and Angel spins around. "I am coming with you!" "No. I will be back later." "Well then don't bother letting me know when you are back - I will be busy having fun." "My men will not let you leave." Austin is now looking at her, making sure to keep his eyes firmly on hers. He is so stubborn. Angel steps forward and takes his hand placing it on her side then leaning into him. "I don't need to leave this house to have a little fun, Austin...with all these men around it's like a buffet," she whispers letting her wet tongue dance over her lips slowly. He has not moved his hand and his penetrating blue-eyed stare cuts right through her. But, she has the upper hand right now - she can tell by the way he swallows thickly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Angel Knite is a singer, a rockstar and she has the world captivated. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat as he stared across the table at me. I could seriously drown in his eyes. He was intoxicatingly attractive and he had to know it. That's why he was acting strange around me. For some reason, he looked at me as if I was the only one there with him. As if nobody else were here. And his voice... it pained me. It actually pained me with how utterly seductive and husky it always sounded. And the way he smelled all the time. I don't know why he smelled so strong, but I didn't mind. He smelled like evergreens and a hint of mint. It sounds like a bad combo, but it dizzied me with how lost I got in it. The thought of not being able to control myself, my thoughts and feelings and body when I'm around him, infuriated me. I was so good at holding myself together now, and he just unraveled me so easily, leaving me a mess. I wasn't the slightest bit afraid of him, and I had no idea why either. Just being in the same room, I felt like I didn't have to look over my shoulder. I didn't have to worry. I didn't even know who he was, and he still drew me in. "So, you were in California before? Why did you move?" Grace Hatfield asked, looking at him. She is our school's college and career advisor. She took me in and adopted me a couple years ago. She even gave me her last name. A saving grace. Why had she invited him here? Why did he come? He turned to her with a smile and a shrug. "Guess I just hadn't found what I was looking for yet." Something about the way he said it, sent a shiver down my spine. Why did I feel like there was so much more meaning behind his words than he was letting on? "Well, I hope you find what you're looking for." Grace said, and he turned to me with a devilish smirk and a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Something tells me that I will."

Dillon's life is a mess. Two years ago, her sister Isla vanished without a trace, and the authorities closed the case after only six months, assuming Isla left willingly. Dillon knows better. She knows something happened to her sister, but everyone thinks she's just chasing ghosts. Now, with a bruised face and a body broken by her search for answers, Dillon has one thing on her mind: find Isla. When Dillon ends up in the trailer of Austin, a mysterious and rugged cowboy with a past of his own, she doesn't expect him to be her savior. Austin has a quiet, intimidating strength that both unsettles and comforts her. He's kind in the way only someone who's seen darkness can be, and while he's obviously hiding something, Dillon doesn't trust him any more than she trusts Luke-the man she knows holds the key to Isla's disappearance. Despite the sparks of attraction between them, Dillon refuses to let Austin's calm demeanor distract her. She needs answers, and she won't stop until she finds out what happened to Isla-even if it means confronting the dangerous Luke. But Austin has his reasons for staying out of it. He knows the risks, knows how far Luke will go to protect his secrets, and knows that pushing the past could shatter everything-especially Dillon. Will Dillon find the truth, or will her pursuit of justice destroy her in the process? A slow-burning, suspenseful story about obsession, loyalty, and the fight to heal from deep scars-both physical and emotional.
