Ever read the hunger games? Well, this story is about the exact same, but 500 years later and a new goal. Find the flag; at any cost. 10 teams of 2 thrown into an arena. Evelyn and Caleb are teammates, but will they both survive this murderous game of Capture the Flag? President Johnson says this game is to remind the remaining human population that violence will never solve things and to remind the people of the strategy the wars of the past caused. There used to be 7 billion people in the world and after the world almost ended two years ago, there's only 2 million people left in it.

When Kira Blackwood's name is reaped, she knows she's screwed. How is she supposed to survive in a fight to death with twenty-three other tributes, all of whom want to get out alive as much as she does? Not to mention, the thought of killing somebody twists her stomach into all sorts of unnatural shapes. Despite secretly training for the Games in the cow pastures surrounding her home, and being pretty handy with a knife, Kira's kind heart may be the thing that holds her back the most. However, as she navigates through the opulent world of the Capitol, and then the arena itself, Kira starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, it's not the dead she should pity, but the Victor. After all, no one ever really wins the Hunger Games. Survives, sure. But wins? Never. ~~+~~ Please Note: This is set in a world where the 2nd Rebellion failed. All usurpers were executed (except those pesky star-crossed lovers, who knows where they ran off to), District 13 was destroyed for good (but District 12 was rebuilt, on the basis that the Capitol realized that it actually really needed coal), and the Hunger Games were reinstated. Disclaimer: I don't own any of the rights to the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, or to the Lionsgate adaptation of her books. (Obviously.) All characters of my creation are copyrighted. ~~+~~ Thank you so much for reading this, it really means so much to me!!! :) I hope you enjoy, and love it as much as I do! (Also sorry for the length, I sort have this thing for details... and long, run-on sentences... and long, run-on sentences stuffed with details...) Please note: I don't have a ton of free time, so as much as I love writing this, updating it will probably be super irregular. It's basically completed, the only reason that it's still marked as "ongoing" is bc I still want to write a few more scenes after the Games like the interviews and stuff, maybe of the Victory Tour, but I'm just not super motivated rn, lol.
