Charlie's lost a lot in the years since her father's death. Returning to Miner's Cove where it happened might just help give the closure she needs, and help her ease into the family job. The only problem is that she never received training. With the weight of everyone's expectations on her shoulders -- and no one else to do the job -- she pushes herself to become Guardian, someone who (normally) has undergone extensive training and mysterious rituals in preparation for ensuring the land remains free of demons. But with a lingering deadline of just six months to learn nine years' worth of combat and magical prowess, she begins to wonder if she can even do it at all.
