Whether you decide to be romantic soulmates or not is up to you both at that point, but you will always be linked together. The world recognizes the power and importance of these bonds even beyond cultures and boundaries, respecting and celebrating it... most of the world at least.
Aerie Moore was born into a family that seeks to erase these marks from existence. She, however, wants nothing more than to have someone in the world who understands her truly. So when her mark arrives and she feels the tug to travel halfway across the planet, will she be able to find that other soul or will cruel fate have other plans for her? "SOULMATES" .... Sounds like a damn watt pad made up thing. Even saying it out loud sounds like you read too much of fantasy novels. Our world is huge with all kind of things, people, ideas, dreams existing together and even if we sometimes hate to admit this but we are dependent on each other. The concept of soulmates needing skin contact to heal/ recharge is inspired from fanfiction by author fallencairns on AO3. The writer in turn was inspired and used the concept of skin contact recharge/healing from some other author. So I acknowledge and credit the idea/ concept to the original creator.
