It shouldn't have been as funny as it was to you that in the beginning you'd somehow managed to convince yourself that a set of rules created and agreed upon by the pair of you would be able to keep the friendship and the sex, you and Daniel, his lack of feelings and your excess of them, all neatly in their designated places.

The rules may have been your idea, but the rest of it, from that first night in his kitchen to the game he'd made out of getting overly familiar where the boundaries outlined in the rulebook fell, that had been all Daniel. He'd been the one who had made the first move but you had been all too happy to let him because he was right, it just made sense for the two of you to not take complete advantage of the opportunity that had landed in your laps.

You'd been so certain that if you went about this the right way, he never had to know about the barest flicker of a crush and you'd be able to extinguish it before it could ever become a problem. Yet, the thing is, trying to suffocate an ember by burying it under layers of kindling isn't at all how forest fires are prevented- it's how acre after acre fall victim to the flames.

Upon her laughing at my struggle, a smile naturally creeps onto my face. "Sorry. What I mean to say is I would like for you to come with me. If you come, you could finally know what my job is." She grins widely. "Because you are not a mechanic, but you won't tell what your real job is." "Exactly, but if you come..." She presses her lips together and then pouts slightly. "I can't." My smile drops. "I'm sorry, Max, my flight leaves Thursday morning." Disappointed, I shrug in an attempt to play it casual. "It's okay," I say softly, and she scrunches her nose at the pet name. "But tell me the truth, would you have come if you were staying longer?" She smiles widely and I mimic her. "Depends, would you continue acting like an asshole?" I chuckle. I know she will never let that go, and weirdly it brings me joy because that means that she will never forget the day we met. And I don't want her to forget it because it is forged forever in my mind. I am bound by that day, but if I am bound, she should be too. I want us to be bound forever by that day. "Maybe. Depends if you will text me this time." "Then maybe." With a grin on my face, I reply, "Maybe is good enough for now." A lie. Truly, maybe is not enough, but I will wait for her forever if it is necessary. I barely know her, but I want her to like me at least a portion of how much I like her because her mere presence makes me happy, and I believe I have the same effect on her. ------------------------------- Two pressured souls to succeed, longing for love. Max Verstappen, a seemingly ruthless driver, finds himself drawn to Vanessa Teixeiro, the sweetest soul with many secrets he is eager to unravel. Two sides of the same coin collide and can't seem to escape the other. Vanessa knows she should keep her distance from him, as he is too tempting for her, especially at the wrong time. However, Max is determined to keep crossing paths with her. He has fallen for her, but will she fall for him too?

To make it to formula one you have to be prepared to make sacrifices- to be successful you have to actually make them. There was no line she would not cross and no sacrifice she would not make. She had one rule for herself: Be. The. Best. Being the daughter of the world renowned business man Adam Volvo and the goddaughter of the f1 legend Kimi Raikkonen, Emmy Vilde was always doomed to become a petrol head just like her role models. She grew up on track and watched as it grew beside her. At the same time she grew more skilled the tracks grew larger, faster. The pressure was always on for the young girl. Courtesy of her automobile pedigree the entire racing world watched on as she grew. Though the talent she possessed was obvious her travel to formula one stayed consistently debated seeing as many argued that her family connections gave her a unfair leg up, she always refused to be apologetic about her success. The girl worked her ass off and she would be dammed if the world didn't know it. Now finally taking the big step up to f1 she will have to face the harsh reality of not only being a woman in f1 but also being the reigning world champion's teammate. The girl that previously had dominated every competition she had ever stepped foot in would now have to get used to being a average racer. It is only natural for rookies to struggle but how will she cope with her new bittersweet reality and the distractions and obstacles thrown her way?

⚠️A/N: This story is written in 2021 and will be rewritten in 2023, plus new chapters will be added! My father is a business man whose job is much more important than his teenage daughter with boy problems. But like all parents would do when they know their child's doing stuff behind their back when they're away. They make sure someone watches them. And that's what happend to me. Yes I'm Alice. I live in London with my father, which isn't always fun. But my neighbour whom's a F1 driver. Long story short. We knew each over since I was 3 years old and he's much older. I do not like this "new" way of my dad acting like I need a babysitter. Because I'm not 3 anymore. But who knew? That actually having an F1 driver baby sitting you could be fun? And will they get closer?
