On the planet of Edelon the male population is dwindling fast. Scientists had to join together to fix this vastly growing problem, find a way for the genders to be able to switch, for the people to be able to choose. From the ages of 18-24 the people may switch between male or female, than making a final decision at 25 what they will continue to be.

Ada has always struggled to feel like she belongs. She has long awaited to turn 18 to see if maybe switching will help her come to terms with who she is as a person, but things aren't always black and white and the arrival of a new guy in town turns her struggles into more than a gender switch can solve
