We write July 3rd, 1916 when the Battle of the Somme was in its early days. British Sergeant Oliver William Wellington is not a newcomer to the battlefield, having faced death, despair, and fire many times in his life on the field. If one asked him if he could kill someone back in 1913, he would've been appalled, and it was unimaginable for him and others to take another life. But this day promised to be another kind of hell.

Hopefully, it will get better.

This is an original work of fiction. Names, characters, and settings that coincide with real life events in the war is purely coincidental.

WARNING: This story contains graphic descriptions of war. Thus the following included but were not limited to: Explicit Gore, Violent Character Deaths, and Body Mutilations. Do not read if you are uncomfortable with the listed descriptions above.

In late 1916, fueled by wartime desperation and a zealous belief in the heroic epics of old, Imperial German archeologist Emil Gliese founded a program to locate, train, and weaponize individuals with diverse supernatural powers. Christened as "Iron Knights", these super-soldiers cut a swath of devastation through enemy forces until the opposing powers mirrored the program. By the time the armistice was signed, nearly all of Europe's "exceptionals" were dead. The year is now 1937 and tensions are once again on the rise. In defiance of the restrictions placed on it by the treaty that ended the Great War, Germany has once again started to covertly train legions of exceptionals. However, due to the near eradication of such superhumans in the war, the government is forced to scrape the bottom of the proverbial barrel in hopes of turning less-than-impressive abilities into lethal weapons. Arthur Sturm is the teenage son of one of the few surviving Iron Knights; a famous war hero known as "The Hurricane". Despite a serious heart condition that threatens his life, Arthur goes against his father's wishes in an attempt to follow in The Hurricane's footsteps. Together with his closest allies; a mysterious swordswoman from the Far East and a Jewish "calciumancer" hiding right under the Nazis' noses, Arthur Sturm charges headlong to prove himself worthy of taking up his father's mantle. Along the way these young heroes face off against rebels, supernatural forces, and foreign powers, all while struggling with the reality that the very government which holds their allegiance might be the most wicked foe of all.

This is the fifth volume of my award-winning Wattpad Featured Story, 'Posted As Missing', an intense adventure/romance set in the turmoil of World War One Europe. I've grown tired of blood-and-guts war stories, so I've written this series to examine deeper issues. David left the battlefields in the first chapter of the first volume of this story, and to this point, he has not returned to them. He has found far more effective ways to fight the German war machine. You might wish to read the earlier volumes in this series: 'Posted As Missing', 'Missing', 'Back in Action' and 'Watching Fritz'.
