Rumor has it that there was a village that worshipped the "sorrowful god whose cries could be heard in the wind". The people revered the god, and told stories of how their beloved god constantly suffered to protect the people of Liyue.
A benevolent god - something that he could never be. He was merely a tainted soul who slayed greater evils in an attempt to atone for his sins. However, as ridiculous as it might be, something about this god resonated with him.
Perhaps, she would carry the answers.
