While there has been some form of peace in Prythian for several years, an unexplainable darkness has begun to find its way over the Fae lands, with a thirst for the Mother's Daughters in mind. After one of the youngest daughters, Jez, finds herself in the heart of Night Court, dark forces threaten not only her world but that of a world she and her sisters helped shape thousands of years ago.

Despite not interacting with the Prythian Faes in over 400 years, Jez must work with the Inner Circle to ensure the world she loves, and they inhabit, don't meet the wrath of shadows and lies that have been plaguing her life, and following Mother, for millennia. Through doing so, she makes unlikely friendships, fixes her bond with her sisters, and finds herself entangled with a certain shadowsinger more than once.
