Clay pits development site in Pallinghurst Estate is located approximately 1.5km to the east/northeast of the Loxwood village. Underlain by the Weald Clay Formation, this site is a principal clay resource and it is well located for supplying several relatively local brickworks. Loxwood Clay Pits Ltd. aims to excavate minerals (principally clay shale) from the site including the development of a construction materials recycling facility (CMRF) to provide local recycling facilities and the utilization of some recycled materials for the restoration of the clay pit. After the compilation of the project, the site will be restored back to deciduous forestry plantation along with an addition of a small fishing lake for the benefit of the local community.
