If there's one thing that Ellie James hates more than judgy, homophobic people, it's judgy, homophobic people who try to harm her adopted father-- her godfather and real father's best friend. So when the two of them --along with her father's new husband-- move to a small town filled with judgy, homophobic people, including the woman who lives across the street and will stop at nothing to send Ellie and her fathers packing, Ellie decides to make a change and fight back. Along with her new, slightly weird friend Molly--who likes to help animals across the road and dance in the rain-- Ellie creates an LGBTQ+ movement at their school to raise awareness. Before they know it, kids are clamoring to them for advice, comfort, and friendship and their club is growing in size. But, as it turns out, teenagers can be just as judgy, if not judgier, than the Karens outside of the school. As the homophobic people push against the LGBTQ+ community, Ellie pushes even harder against them. But as she navigates her own sexuality and the social norms, a shocking, horrifying revelation suddenly throws off everything she thought she knew about her life.
