Remus isn't doing too well after De-Janus left the dark sides, leaving Remus alone. He falls into a hole of depression and denial. Then... he found you. You were just a child, but he sympathized with you. Alone, hurt, but trying to fight back, just like him. He promises to himself that nobody will ever hurt you again. His plan to giving you the perfect life, however, does not include the other sides.
