The Xer is about a seventeen year old girl named Blaide, who lives a life with her foster family. She doesn't know where she's from, but she knows her last name, Xdawn. She always plays catch with her younger foster brother, Jameson. They play at the deadline of their yard. Beyond the deadline is a big and dark woods. No one ever goes in, not for all the wealth in
the world. As they were playing catch, Jameson accidentally threw the ball really deep in the woods. Blaide was scared, but she knew she just had to suck it up and get the ball. As she gets deeper and deeper in the woods, Blaide soon finds out that once she got in, she couldn't get out. A dome. A force field.
She finds these old ladies that guide her to their village. They collect her information. As they do, Blaide finally finds a sign of her real family. A weapon, called the Xer. Her fourth great grandfather made it. Now finding out that someone has collected all the Xdawns for slaves, Blaide has to hide, or go to war.
