His fingers wrap around my wrist, pulling me closer to him. "You're a feisty little one, aren't you?" His lips curl into a scowl. "The boss wants to see you, so if you would please calm down, this will make it a whole lot easier."
"Nothing about me is easy. Now let me go," I demand, trying to get him to loosen his grip on me. With his fingers digging into my skin, it's starting to hurt. "What does he want with me anyway?"
"I can't tell you."
"And why not?"
He leans forward, his cobalt blue eyes piercing me with its intense gaze. My breath hitches in my throat, "He'll answer all the questions you want. But for now, shut the hell up, calm down, and come with me. We don't want to keep him waiting."
"And who is he?"
He drops my arm and takes a step back. "Death."
17 Year old Adalyn is what you would call your typical quiet loner. She has no friends, doesn't care to make them, and deals with a mom and dad who are constantly fighting, even after they move to a new county. But she's content with it.
However, things start to turn for the worse when she starts dreaming of people dying. Not only that, when she touches someone, she can see when and how they die, too. And then she starts being followed by a mysterious man, who eventually reveals himself as Braden Creed. She demands to know what he wants, but he's not too inclined to tell her.
It's not until she comes face-to-face with Braden's boss where all her questions are answered. She learns who she actually is, and lies and secrets are revealed about her past and what she's meant to do. Only thing is, Adalyn isn't too sure she'll be able to handle it.
