Olivia "Olive" Palmer, as the daughter of Lord and Lady Palmer, has known that her arranged marriage with Commodore James Norrington would take place ever since she was a child. Despite this, she knows that whilst she may get along with the man she is to marry, she could never love him the way he desires her to.

She has known the local blacksmith apprentice, William Turner, since he arrived at Port Royal after Elizabeth Swann spotted him drifting in the salty ocean waters and from the moment they met, their friendship was immediately noticeable. Over the years, it has grown stronger and stronger, even if Olive's father disapproves.

So what happens when she is kidnapped by a treacherous bunch of pirates and her hopes of rescue slowly start to slip away?
