Of course Larry was never real but the boys thought it were a good idea to trick Simon, Modest and their fans. Why? because Simon always has been homophobic and the fans seemed to love Larry. Harry and Louis booth catched feelings for each other but never tell. Then the hiatus takes place and they stayed good friends. In 2022 the reunion should happen, 'cause no matter the contract ended in 2020, they still have to do one one last album and one last tour with Modest till they're free.
