Sent on an arms-sting operation in Mexico, Donald, a rash young marine, and his partner, Marcus Lud, don't exactly follow their orders. Although they do execute the stated intent of the mission, taking out the drug cartels. By using the advanced DNA homing weapons to kill the original buyers, and then selling the weapons to the intended target of the cartels, they end their military careers, and tie their fates together.

Marcus founds a technophobic group, the Luddities, and Donld becomes their lawyer. Winning political allies, their past is forgiven. But when Donald falls in love with Jillian Waverly, a brilliant inventor, he discovers that the Luddities have targeted her family with a bird-flue developed for political and financial gain. With millions of lives, and his own soul, at stake, Donald must stop Marcus Lud, and expose the corrupt politicians colluding with the Luddites.
