The verdant lovers

In the early 19th century Two young children from rival families meet in a beautiful overgrown building where they start to make a connection, up until their duties grasped them and their time, they had a hefty argument in which left their mouths with a bitter taste , it resonated with them through the years till this girl was old enough to look for a suitor.

And things start to get interesting when she goes to a masquerade ball and finds a very charming man unknown to the majority of the crowd except someone who wasn't very willing to give up their identity........

She chases after these very unique characters until something catastrophic happens to the person she's closest with and everything comes to a halt, when she is left with a riddle to decipher

Who could the unknown charming gentleman be?
What could he possibly want with her?
Does she have a future with them?
Are they love interests or just acquaintances?
What could the riddle mean?
