They were under-staffed and had poor management, this place should've been shut down years ago.
Ponk was going to medical school and this offered as a /summer/ job, little did he know he couldn't get out of the job for at least 5 years because he didn't read the fine print on his contract.
Ponk was assigned a SCP commonly referred to as, Sam. He hopes he won't be killed trying to wait out his contract.

They're both lucky enough that their stations are positioned away from the stage, sparing them from anything they may not want to see. Schlatt's right hand man, Big Q, also known as Quackity, rarely shows up, as he works remotely, but they all work together and get the work done.
