Princess of the Highlands Trilogy Book 1 ~~~ A TIME OF DARKNESS Six years since the Danes invaded Scotland, slaying her finest men. Five since the Highland King married one of the enemy, betraying his countrymen and losing the Lowlanders' support. Three since the king died and the Danes imprisoned the remaining blood heir to the throne. Her crown stolen, her country desolated, Fiona McCurragh now faces the looming threat of execution. The Lowlanders, weary of enemy rule, seek to free their stolen homeland. With the aid of a blind harper, they attempt to rescue their Highland princess when the Danes ride in on Lowlander territory, shattering the fragile peace. The Scots are left with no choice except to launch a war in the face of the coming winter. If they do not attack now, the Scots-and their princess-may not live to see the spring. In the face of despair, Fiona McCurragh finds courage in friendship with two chief's sons. Yet conflict lies on more than one side, and for some of the Scots and their allies, loyalty no longer has any meaning. --- **FEATURED on Wattpad's Blast to the Past List** **Highest Ranking: #34 in Historical Fiction 8/24/2020** January Book of the Month in Historical Fantasy in The Gladiator Pit Top 5 in The Historical Award 2019 Best Technical Skill in Fiction in The 2019 Futhark Awards Best Historical Fiction Chapter in What a Chapter Contest 1st: Earnesty Awards 2017 Hidden Gems Awards 2017 The Paper Plane Awards 2017 The Chaos Awards 3! Scotland's history as you've never heard it before. Understand the sequences and time line of the oldest kingdom in the world, told in emotive and bloody stories from our country's past. Tony Harmsworth has been involved in presenting Scottish History to the public for nearly forty years. Exhibitions he has staged include the Great Glen Exhibition, Macbeth Experience, Loch Ness Exhibition Centre, Fort Augustus Abbey Heritage Centre, Loch Ness Diorama and others. The Fort Augustus exhibition was the largest private exhibition ever to have been staged in Scotland. In addition he has run tour businesses specialising in presenting the most interesting aspects to the history of Scotland. While doing this his tours became the first four star tour in the Highlands, the first five star tour in Scotland and the tours he was operating at his retirement had become number one on Trip Advisor for the whole of Scotland. It was suggested he take some of the stories he uses during his tours and put them into a book. THIS is that book. All the bloodiest Scottish history from the stone age through to the first Scottish Independence Referendum. This book takes you through the entire history of Scotland in chronological order so that you don't just learn about, say, Mary Queen of Scots, but also how she came to become a divisive figure and what lead up to the Jacobite uprisings of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Be ready to join this roller-coaster ride through Scotland's bloody past. (C) 2009 Tony Harmsworth - All Rights Reserved. Princess of the Highlands Trilogy Book 2 ~~~ A CRY FOR VALOUR Five years since the last blood heir to the Scottish throne was imprisoned by Danish invaders, death her only prospect. Two since the Lowlanders rescued their princess while failing to free their country, waging a winter's war. One since the princess went into hiding and the Scots sent envoys to Cymru, hoping to secure aid against their common enemies. Her country in ruins, her fighting men few, Fiona McCurragh nonetheless finds courage as the Lowlanders return from Cymru. As winter thaws into spring, the Danes renew their hunt for the Scottish princess, nearly discovering her and the Scots' newfound Cymreig allies. The Scots, forced to play their hand, retaliate by launching their third war against their invaders. Yet the elder son of Chieftain McCladden and Fiona McCurragh soon realise that not all battles are won with men and spears; some are of the heart. In an unforeseen act of treachery, Fiona is captured and held prisoner at Caerloch Castle, awaiting torture and execution. Meanwhile, the Lowlanders and the Cymry find themselves faced by Lady Nuith's innumerable hosts and beyond the reach of the silent Highlanders. Torn between surrender or death, honouring their oaths may be the Scots' final defence. --- **Highest ranking: #47 in Historical Fiction 12/17/2021** © Cheyenne van Langevelde 2024. It has been over two centuries since the reign of King William and the banishment of the ladies' society,a society tasked with the protection of the prince. All this changes when Amelia is born. Like her mother before her, she is chosen to perform the duty that many ladies of the ladies' society covet. It is after these two centuries and with the coming to power of King William III that the society is re-enacted. Amelia Green is trained to become the most lithe and lethal protecter of the kingdom's most prized possession. She realizes that the fate of the kingdom depends on her skill but fails to notice that she will seal the fate of another That of her own.
