It all started as a dream. A scary, realistic dream that he hadn't expected to be real. After all, who would believe that Lucifer and Michael escaped the pit and were coming after Team Freewill?
As Dean suffers through sleepless nights, the nightmares playing one after another, Castiel does his best to keep the truth from Dean.
That everything. His nightmares, his dreams. They're all true.
And on top of everything else going wrong with the world, Sam leaves the group, Dean finds out Castiel has been lying to him, and Cas is forced to come to terms with an emotion towards the hunter he isn't quite sure of.
The next Apocalypse is happening. Team Freewill has disbanded. And all their hopes, dreams, and loyalties have been shattered.
Will the brothers save their relationship? Will Castiel come to terms with what happened that night out in the rain? Will they stop the oncoming catastrophes? Or will Lucifer and Michael finally get what the wanted all along.. Their true vessels.

The Winchesters just received the most unexpected of the calls and now their life is on the verge of undergoing another, perhaps just as radical change. After losing his mother and his best friend, Dean found himself in a very dark place, unable to share Sam's stubborn hope that Mary might be alive and refusing to mourn Castiel. He's been stuck between trying to cope with their losses, with the aid of unhealthy amounts of alcohol, and being unable to hold back his anger issues, of which Sam and Jack have become the unlucky main targets. The reunion with the angel, while, on one hand, shines a fresh ray of hope on the boys' path, on the other puts a spotlight on the mistakes made in the previous weeks and brings up issues that have been ignored and avoided for too long. Cas is determined to reconnect with Jack and try to fix the relationship between Dean and the nephilim, together with helping his best friend to heal. This assuming that he can get through the older hunter first. Because getting Dean Winchester to talk about his feelings can turn out to be as hard as stopping the umpteenth apocalypse.
