21-year-old Sirius Black can't be helped. He can't be fixed. That's what all of his physiologists have said. That's what his parents said. And he believes them. So he does what everyone's been telling him to do since he was a kid. He takes a dive off the Golden Gate Bridge.
Remus Lupin, an art teacher in his early twenties, believes that anything can be made beautiful. So when he meets a man broken by years of torment, he sees it as his personal goal to put him back together again. But, unlike everything else he's ever worked with, it won't take a bit of glue and some fresh paint to cover his scars.

His books were his friends, his books were his lover, his book were his personality, his books were his comfort zone. Remus' suitcase for Hogwarts was mostly covered in fragile books, the paint peeling off the covers as the binding bended easily from all the days of being read. He didn't consider this as odd - simply as bringing your friends along. It all started off as an act kindness... Remus never planned for it to turn out the way it did. He was the boy's shield and sword, guiding him as they walked a path together. He didn't plan on the boy having his own sword. He didn't plan on the boy swinging it at him. Its been two years since the marauders have graduated. James and Lily are married with a baby on the way, and Sirius and Peter are very busy with the Order. Meanwhile, Remus is just trying to survive his transitions in such a volatile time. No one wants to hire a werewolf, and the Order isn't well enough equipped to handle the full moons. Dumbledore offers him a position at the Hogwarts library as an assistant. There he can do research for the Order, as well as spend his moons like he did during his school years. Tessa Downing is a sixth year Hufflepuff. After a summer of chaos and hiding, she's having trouble transitioning back at school.
