He stood there looking straight to my soul making my breath hitch and said, "Grab my hand." I was hesitant to take his hand, fearing what might come ahead of us, but a sudden urge inside of me wanted badly to take his hand. To just let go of it all and dive into oblivion. "Please wake up." I said as I held his hand. I looked for any sign of response; a movement beneath an eyelid, a twitch of a finger. Nothing. He was just... blank. I felt the tears come. I played with his hand in mine; traced invisible messages in his palm with my finger, hoping just maybe he'd magically be able to get them. Tears started falling down my cheeks. I held his hand gently against my lips. Tears dropped on his fingers until they were as wet as my eyes. I rested my head on his limp hand. "I told you I needed you to stay."
