- book one of the illicit affair series -
that's the thing about illicit affairs...
it's born from just one single glance...
but it dies, and it dies, and it dies...
a million little times.
Taylor Alison Swift is the daughter of King Scott and Queen Andrea of New York City. Since the moment she was born, her fate has been decided by her mother. She is to marry, not for love, but for duty, because blue blood runs through her veins. Her life might as well be planned out in front of her, no choices are her own.
But she wants to marry for love. Marry for that spark one feels when they are truly in love. She doesn't want to have to marry someone she has just met or someone that she hasn't gotten to choose. She doesn't want to marry for the Crown, for the throne. She just wants to marry for love.
Joseph Matthew Alwyn is a Prince, son of the King and Queen of London. They meet, one night, where neither of them are supposed to be. At a bar in the middle of nowhere, the smell of candles, beer and smoke lingering on their clothes. They meet, and embers collide, creating a bright, burning inferno. But fires that start fast can burn out quickly, and they'll do everything they can to keep that spark alive.
No matter what it takes. No matter if they could both be stripped of their titles, exiled, or worse case... they refuse to think about that.
It's a dangerous game they're playing.
To say Summer 2016 was monumental for Taylor would be a massive understatement. She met the love of her life, feuded with pop culture's biggest power couple, ended two highly publicized romances, dismantled her "squad", and dealt with lots of family drama. It's no wonder so many songs in her discography touch upon these themes. This story focuses on Taylor and Joe's love story but has other plot points. I tried to make it as accurate as possible, referencing song lyrics, things Tay/Joe have said in interviews, and known Taylor sightings. Of course, as this is a fanfic, take everything with a grain of salt- I'm just a swiftie head cannoning lol. Most importantly though, happy reading!! Please feel free to give me feedback in the comments, I'd love to hear from you!! <3
