   And the worst part?
They're both fighting for the same scholarship to get into the school of their dreams.

Nico di Angelo is finally happy. He's learning to accept himself for his sexuality and as a son of Hades. After everything horrible that has happened to him, he's slowly getting better with the help of Will and his friends. Will Solace finally got the boy of his dreams. The boy he had a crush on since he was 11 years old. He's starting to realize that he isn't as useless as he thinks he is, and that he's actually worth something. Everything is going great for a while. But just like it always is for demigods, nothing good ever lasts. The death of Nico's first and closest friend Jason Grace puts a sudden end to the sunshine that currently brightens Nico's life for once. His death triggers a lot of things for him, and shines light on a lot of his unresolved trauma. Will Nico be able to make it through this without his mental stability completely breaking once and for all? Will Nico be able to let people in enough to help him get through it? And what about the mysterious dreams that Nico keeps having of his mom? And who really is this little girl that knows nothing about her past? In this sequel to Out of the Shadows, Nico sees familiar faces and revisits past places, but at least this time he has Will along for the ride. Spoilers for basically every Percy Jackson book, including Tower of Nero. ⚠️ Trigger Warning ⚠️ death, homophobia, mental health issues that includes but not limited to PTSD and depression, heavy angst later on, brief harassment and brief physical violence (someone gets slapped once). Thank you so much, Selene (aka @riptide2406) for all of the help! I couldn't have done this without you! Everyone, go check out her page and follow her! She's super cool, and one of the very best friends I have on here! All character, world and basically everything rights goes to the amazing Rick Troll Riordan, except for the plot points I made and the characters I created. "Three days. I was only supposed to be in here for three days. That's it. I did not stay for three days." Nico is, unfortunately, stuck with that stupid(ly adorable) doctor wannabe, Will Solace, for longer than he would like. Sure, it was partially Nico's fault that he stayed overtime, but couldn't Will just give up on him already? He's weak, sick, and most of all, frustrated. And he wants to change out of this stupid tropical shirt. But will Will let him? No, he just has to stay put for the next third of his life! How unfair is that? Eventually, Nico realizes that, just maybe, Will isn't as annoying as he thought. Could their friendship develop beyond just friends?
