Follows a young woman hired as a nanny by a wealthy Scottish family living in London. When the Thornburn parents are killed in Paris by a terrorist bombing Elizabeth must care for the children until they are sent to their uncle who lives in the United States. However, Elsbeth Thornburn's only little brother, Gabriel Shara is missing. No one can find him or get in touch with him to let him know that his sister and brother-in-law are dead. 

Probate waits for no man. Elizabeth is designated temporary guardian and is sent with the children  to the U.S. and must now delve into the mystery of what has happened to Gabriel Shara. Once they arrive at his property they quickly find themselves in a world of magic and monsters. The magic changes Elizabeth and the children and they will never be the same...
